CROCHET BEVERAGE BAG

$0.00

Materials you’ll need:

  • Worsted weight yarn in your desired color
  • Crochet hook suitable for your yarn
  • Scissors
  • Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
  • Button or drawstring for closure (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Gauge: Start by creating a gauge swatch. Crochet a small square using your chosen stitch pattern to determine how many stitches and rows you need to achieve the desired size. Measure the gauge and adjust your hook size if necessary.
  2. Base:
    • Chain the desired number of stitches to achieve the width of your beverage bag base. The exact number of chains will depend on your gauge and the size of your beverage container.
    • Row 1: Starting in the second chain from the hook, work your chosen stitch pattern across. Turn your work.
    • Repeat Row 1 until the base is wide enough to comfortably hold your beverage container. This will depend on your measurements.
  3. Sides:
    • Once the base is the desired width, continue working in your chosen stitch pattern to create the sides of the bag.
    • Work in rounds or rows, depending on your preferred construction method.
    • Continue crocheting until the bag reaches the desired height to fully cover your beverage container. This will depend on your measurements.
  4. Closure:
    • You have a couple of options for closing your beverage bag. You can add a button and buttonhole or create a drawstring closure.
    • For a button closure, sew a button near the top edge of the bag. Then, create a buttonhole by skipping a stitch or creating a chain space that will fit your button.
    • For a drawstring closure, leave a long tail when fastening off the yarn. Thread the tail through a tapestry needle and weave it through the stitches near the top edge of the bag. Thread a drawstring through the resulting chain space.
  5. Finishing:
    • Once you’ve completed the main body of the beverage bag, fasten off the yarn, leaving a long tail for sewing.
    • Fold the bag in half, aligning the sides, and sew the side seam using the tail and a tapestry needle.
    • Weave in any loose ends with a tapestry needle.
