Materials Needed:
Worsted weight yarn in owl colors (such as brown, white, and yellow)
Crochet hook suitable for the yarn weight

Scissors
Blanket:
Start with the owl’s body color. Chain a multiple of 10 stitches to reach your desired blanket width.
Row 1: Double crochet (dc) in the fourth chain from the hook and in each chain across. (This counts as the first row of double crochet.)
Rows 2-4: Chain 2 (counts as the first dc), turn. Dc in each stitch across.
Change to the owl’s main color.
Rows 5-10: Repeat Rows 2-4.
Change to the owl’s body color.
Rows 11-16: Repeat Rows 2-4.
Change to the owl’s main color.
Rows 17-22: Repeat Rows 2-4.
Repeat Steps 6-9 as desired to create alternating color sections for the owl’s body.
Finish the blanket by repeating Rows 2-4 with the owl’s body color for the desired number of rows.
Fasten off and weave in any yarn ends.
Owl Appliqué:
Head: Start with the owl’s head color.
Magic Ring, work 10 single crochet (sc) stitches into the ring. Pull the ring tight to close.
Round 1: Work 2 sc in each stitch around (20 stitches).
Round 2: Sc in the next stitch, 2 sc in the following stitch. Repeat from * to * around (30 stitches).
Round 3: Sc in the next 2 stitches, 2 sc in the following stitch. Repeat from * to * around (40 stitches).
Rounds 4-10: Sc in each stitch around (40 stitches).
Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.
Eyes (Make 2): Using the owl’s eye color.
Magic Ring, work 6 sc stitches into the ring. Pull the ring tight to close.
Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.
Beak: Using the owl’s beak color.
Chain 5.
Row 1: Starting from the second chain from the hook, sc in each chain across. Turn.
Rows 2-3: Chain 1, sc in each stitch across. Turn.
Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.
