Baby Cocoon and Hat

Materials needed:

Worsted weight yarn (baby-friendly and soft)
Crochet hook suitable for the yarn weight
Yarn needle for weaving in ends
Scissors
Cocoon Pattern:

Step 1: Starting with a magic ring, make 4 chain stitches.
Step 2: Double crochet 10 times into the magic ring, then close the ring with a slip stitch to the first double crochet.
Step 3: Chain 2, then double crochet twice in each stitch around. Close the round with a slip stitch to the first double crochet (20 stitches).
Step 4: Repeat Step 3 until the cocoon is the desired length. Typically, you may repeat it for 10-12 more rounds or until the cocoon is long enough to cover the baby comfortably.
Step 5: Fasten off the yarn and weave in any loose ends.

Hat Pattern:

Step 1: Starting with a magic ring, make 4 chain stitches.
Step 2: Double crochet 10 times into the magic ring, then close the ring with a slip stitch to the first double crochet.
Step 3: Chain 2, then double crochet twice in each stitch around. Close the round with a slip stitch to the first double crochet (20 stitches).
Step 4: Repeat Step 3 for one more round (40 stitches).
Step 5: Chain 2, then double crochet in each stitch around. Close the round with a slip stitch to the first double crochet.
Step 6: Repeat Step 5 for a few more rounds until the hat reaches the desired height.
Step 7: Fasten off the yarn, leaving a long tail for sewing the top closed.
Step 8: Thread the yarn needle with the tail and weave it through the stitches of the last round. Pull tightly to close the top of the hat.
