Materials:
Worsted weight yarn (color of your choice)
Appropriate crochet hook size for your yarn
Yarn needle
Scissors
Instructions:
Start by making a slip knot and then chain a multiple of 6 stitches plus 2 additional stitches. This will ensure the stitch pattern works properly. For example, you can chain 62 stitches.
Join the last chain stitch to the first chain stitch with a slip stitch to form a ring. Be careful not to twist the chain.
Round 1: Chain 1 (does not count as a stitch), and single crochet in each stitch around the ring. Slip stitch to the first single crochet to join the round.
Round 2: Chain 3 (counts as the first double crochet), skip the next stitch, (single crochet, chain 2, skip 2 stitches, double crochet) in the next stitch, repeat from * to * around. Slip stitch to the top of the chain-3 to join the round.
Round 3: Chain 1, single crochet in the same stitch as the join, chain 2, skip the chain-2 space, (double crochet, chain 2, single crochet) in the next double crochet, repeat from * to * around. Slip stitch to the first single crochet to join the round.
Repeat Round 3 until the hat reaches your desired length, making sure to end with a round that has a chain-2 space.
To finish the hat, fasten off the yarn, leaving a tail. Weave in any loose ends using a yarn needle.
