sc: single crochet
hdc: half double crochet
dc: double crochet
st(s): stitch(es)
sl st: slip stitch
Instructions:
Gauge: Begin by crocheting a swatch in your chosen stitch (e.g., sc, hdc, or dc). Measure the number of stitches per inch and rows per inch. This will help you adjust the pattern for your foot size.
Sole:
Start by chaining the number of stitches needed to match your foot’s length. Typically, you’ll chain the length of your foot plus a few extra for ease (usually 2-3 additional chains). For example, if your foot measures 9 inches long, you might chain 11 or 12.
Row 1: Sc in the 2nd ch from the hook and in each ch across. Ch 1, turn.
Row 2: Sc in each st across. Ch 1, turn.
Repeat Row 2 until the piece measures the width of your foot. Leave a long tail for sewing.
Upper:
The upper part will be crocheted on top of the sole.
Row 1: Attach yarn to the side of the sole and sc evenly around the edge. Work about 2 sc in each row end to keep the upper flat. Sl st to the first sc to join. Ch 1, turn.
Row 2: Sc in each st around. Sl st to the first sc to join. Ch 1, turn.
Repeat Row 2 until the upper reaches the height you desire for your slippers.
Toe:
Start decreasing to form the toe.
Row 1: Sc in the first 4 sts, sc2tog, sc in the next 4 sts, sc2tog – repeat ** around. Sl st to the first sc to join. Ch 1, turn.
Row 2: Sc in each st around. Sl st to the first sc to join. Ch 1, turn.
Repeat Row 2 until you have only a few stitches left.
Fasten off and weave in all ends.
Finishing:
Fold the upper in half, matching the back seam to the center bottom of the toe. Seam the back part of the upper using a whip stitch or any preferred sewing method. Weave in any remaining ends.
Repeat the process to make the second slipper.
