Big Bow Headband

Materials:

Worsted weight yarn in the color of your choice
Crochet hook appropriate for the yarn weight
Yarn needle
Scissors
Instructions:

Begin by creating a foundation chain that fits comfortably around your head. Make sure the chain is long enough to stretch slightly when worn as a headband. Join the last chain to the first chain with a slip stitch to form a ring.

Round 1: Chain 1 to start, and single crochet in each chain around the ring. Join with a slip stitch to the first single crochet to close the round.

Round 2: Chain 1 to start, and single crochet in each stitch around. Join with a slip stitch to the first single crochet to close the round.

Rounds 3-5: Repeat Round 2.

Fasten off and weave in any loose ends.

Now let’s move on to creating the bow:

Bow Center:

Chain 10.
Row 1: Single crochet in the second chain from the hook and in each chain across. Chain 1 and turn.
Row 2: Single crochet in each stitch across. Chain 1 and turn.
Repeat Row 2 until you have a rectangle that measures approximately 4 inches in length. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.
Bow loops:

Cut two lengths of yarn, each measuring around 10 inches.
Fold each length of yarn in half and thread the folded end through the center of the rectangle created in step 6.
Take the loose ends of the yarn and pull them through the folded end, creating a loop. Pull tightly to secure the loop in place.
Repeat the above step for the second length of yarn, positioning it slightly below the first loop.
Bow assembly:

Take the rectangle with the loops and pinch it in the center, forming a bow shape.
Use the long tail of yarn left from step 6 to wrap tightly around the center of the bow, securing all the loops in place. Knot the yarn securely and weave in any loose ends.
Attach the bow to the headband:

Position the bow on top of the headband, slightly to one side.
Thread the yarn needle with a length of yarn and sew the bow securely onto the headband. Make sure to sew through the back of the bow and headband, attaching them firmly.
