CARON ADULT CROCHET V-NECK VEST

Materials:

• Worsted weight yarn
• Crochet hook suitable for the yarn weight
• Scissors
• Yarn needle

Pattern:

Note: This pattern is written for a women’s size medium. However, you can adjust the size by modifying the initial chain and following the stitch count instructions accordingly.

Back Panel:

1. Chain the desired number of stitches for the back panel. For a women’s medium, chain 78.
2. Row 1: Double crochet in the 4th chain from the hook and in each chain across. Turn your work. (76 stitches)
3. Rows 2-10: Chain 3 (counts as a double crochet), double crochet in each stitch across. Turn your work.
4. Fasten off and weave in any loose ends.

Front Panels (Make 2):

1. Chain the desired number of stitches for the front panels. For a women’s medium, chain 36.
2. Row 1: Double crochet in the 4th chain from the hook and in each chain across. Turn your work. (34 stitches)
3. Rows 2-8: Chain 3 (counts as a double crochet), double crochet in each stitch across. Turn your work.
4. Row 9: Chain 3 (counts as a double crochet), double crochet in the first 8 stitches. Leave the remaining stitches unworked. Turn your work.
5. Rows 10-20: Chain 3 (counts as a double crochet), double crochet in each stitch across. Turn your work.
6. Fasten off and weave in any loose ends.

Assembly:

1. Lay the back panel flat on a surface.
2. Place one front panel on each side of the back panel, aligning the shoulders.
3. Seam the shoulders together using a whipstitch or your preferred seaming method.
4. With the vest facing right side out, join the yarn at the bottom corner of one front panel.
5. Work single crochet stitches evenly along the edge of the front panel, up the side, around the V-neck, and down the other side. You can work approximately 2 single crochet stitches for every 3 rows.
6. At the bottom corner of the second front panel, fasten off the yarn and weave in any loose ends.
7. Repeat the same process to work a single crochet border along the armholes.
8. Fasten off and weave in any remaining loose ends.
