CARON COLOR-BLOCK KNIT VEST

Materials:

• Worsted weight yarn in your choice of color
• Knitting needles (size US 8/5mm or size needed to obtain gauge)
• Stitch markers
• Yarn needle for weaving in ends

Gauge: Approximately 18 stitches and 24 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch

Pattern:

Note: This pattern uses US knitting terminology.

Back Panel:

1. Cast on a multiple of stitches for the desired width of the back panel (e.g., cast on 80 stitches for a size Small).
2. Knit in stockinette stitch (knit on the right side, purl on the wrong side) until the back panel reaches your desired length, typically about 16-18 inches or as per your preference.

Front Panels (make 2):

1. Cast on a multiple of stitches for the desired width of each front panel (e.g., cast on 40 stitches for a size Small).
2. Knit in stockinette stitch until the front panels match the length of the back panel, typically about 16-18 inches or as per your preference.

Assembly:

1. Lay the back panel flat and align the front panels on each side.
2. Seam the front panels to the back panel along the sides using a mattress stitch or the desired seaming method.
3. Secure the shoulders by seaming a few inches on each side.
4. Leave armholes open or seam a few inches from the top down to create smaller armholes if desired.
5. Weave in any loose ends.
