Materials you’ll need:
- Worsted weight yarn in your desired color(s)
- Crochet hook suitable for your yarn
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
Instructions:
- Start by making a foundation chain of your desired length. A typical adult scarf is around 60-70 inches long, but you can adjust it to your preference.
- Row 1: Starting in the second chain from the hook, work 1 single crochet (sc) into each chain across. Turn your work. (If you prefer a different stitch pattern, you can choose any stitch like double crochet, half double crochet, or even a combination of stitches.)
- Row 2: Chain 1, work 1 sc into each stitch across. Turn your work.
- Repeat Row 2 until your scarf reaches the desired width or until you run out of yarn. You can continue with the same color or change colors to create stripes or a color-blocked design.
- When you’ve reached the desired length or run out of yarn, fasten off and weave in any loose ends using a tapestry needle.
- Optionally, you can add fringe to the ends of the scarf. To do this, cut lengths of yarn about twice the desired fringe length. Fold each length in half and use a crochet hook or your fingers to pull the folded loop through the end of the scarf. Then, pull the loose ends of the yarn through the loop and tighten.
