Materials you’ll need:

- Crochet hook (size H-5mm or size that matches your yarn)
- Stitch marker
- Yarn needle
- Scissors
Pattern: Note: This pattern is worked in rounds without joining at the end of each round.
Step 1: Chain 3.
Step 2: Round 1: Make 11 double crochet (dc) stitches in the third chain from the hook. (11 stitches)
Step 3: Round 2: Make 2 double crochet (dc) stitches in each stitch around. (22 stitches)
Step 4: Round 3: Make 1 double crochet (dc) stitch in the next stitch, then make 2 double crochet (dc) stitches in the following stitch – Repeat from * to * around. (33 stitches)
Step 5: Round 4: Make 1 double crochet (dc) stitch in each of the next 2 stitches, then make 2 double crochet (dc) stitches in the following stitch – Repeat from * to * around. (44 stitches)
Step 6: Continue crocheting without increasing until the hat reaches the desired length. Measure the hat against the baby’s head to determine the appropriate length. You can add additional rounds of double crochet (dc) stitches or other stitches like half double crochet (hdc) or single crochet (sc) to create the desired length.
Step 7: Once the hat reaches the desired length, fasten off the yarn, leaving a long tail. Thread the tail through the yarn needle and weave it through the stitches of the last round, cinching it closed to create the top of the hat.
Step 8: Flip the hat inside out so the seam is on the inside. Weave in any remaining loose ends using the yarn needle.
