Materials:
- Worsted weight yarn in your preferred color
- Crochet hook suitable for your chosen yarn weight
- Scissors
- Yarn needle for weaving in ends
Instructions:
- Base:
- Start with a magic ring (or chain 4 and join with a slip stitch to form a ring).
- Round 1: Chain 1, work 6 single crochets into the ring. Pull the ring tight to close.
- Round 2: Work 2 single crochets in each stitch around. (Total of 12 stitches)
- Round 3: Work 1 single crochet in the next stitch, then work 2 single crochets in the next stitch (repeat from * to * around). (Total of 18 stitches)
- Round 4: Work 1 single crochet in each of the next 2 stitches, then work 2 single crochets in the next stitch (repeat from * to * around). (Total of 24 stitches)
- Continue increasing in this manner by adding one more single crochet between the increases each round until you reach the desired diameter of the base. This will create a flat circle.
- Sides:
- Once the base reaches the desired diameter, stop increasing and work even rounds of single crochet without any increases.
- Work single crochet in each stitch around for the desired height of the basket. You can adjust the number of rounds according to your preference.
- Finishing:
- Fasten off and weave in any loose ends using a yarn needle.
- Optionally, you can add handles or decorative elements to the basket. For handles, you can create chains or use a different stitch pattern to make them sturdier.
