Crochet Pocket Shawl

Materials:

• Worsted weight yarn (approximately 800-1000 yards)
• Crochet hook (size I/5.5mm or size recommended for your yarn)
• Scissors
• Yarn needle

Stitches Used:

• Chain (ch)
• Single crochet (sc)
• Double crochet (dc)
• Slip stitch (sl st)

Pattern:

Note: This pattern uses US crochet terminology.

1. Foundation: Chain 81.
2. Body of the Shawl: Row 1: In the third chain from the hook, work 1 dc. Work 1 dc in each chain across. (79 dc) Row 2: Ch 1, turn. Work 1 sc in each stitch across. (79 sc) Rows 3-40: Repeat Row 2.
3. Pocket Edging: Row 41: Ch 3 (counts as the first dc), turn. Work 1 dc in each of the first 3 stitches. Ch 15, skip the next 15 stitches, and work 1 dc in each of the last 24 stitches. (27 dc, 15 ch) Row 42: Ch 1, turn. Work 1 sc in each stitch and chain across. (42 sc) Row 43: Ch 3, turn. Work 1 dc in each stitch across. (42 dc)
4. Pocket: Row 44: Ch 1, turn. Work 1 sc in each of the first 3 stitches. Ch 15, skip the next 15 stitches, and work 1 sc in each of the last 24 stitches. (27 sc, 15 ch) Row 45: Ch 1, turn. Work 1 sc in each stitch and chain across. (42 sc) Row 46: Ch 3, turn. Work 1 dc in each stitch across. (42 dc)
5. Repeat Pocket Edging and Pocket: Repeat Rows 41-46 for the second pocket, starting from the end of Row 46.
6. Finishing: Fasten off and weave in all loose ends.
