Description

Materials:

  • Worsted weight yarn (color of your choice)
  • Crochet hook (size appropriate for your yarn)
  • Yarn needle
  • Scissors
  • Buttons (optional)

Gauge: Before starting, it’s recommended to crochet a gauge swatch to ensure the correct size. The gauge for this pattern is 10 single crochet stitches = 2 inches.

Pattern:

Back Panel:

  1. Chain a multiple of 4 stitches plus 3 additional stitches. For example, chain 67 stitches.
  2. In the fourth chain from the hook, make 1 single crochet. Skip 3 chains, then in the next chain, make 3 double crochets followed by 1 chain stitch. Repeat this pattern across the row.
  3. Chain 1, turn your work. In the first single crochet stitch, make 1 single crochet. In the next chain-1 space, make 3 double crochets followed by 1 chain stitch. Repeat this pattern across the row.
  4. Repeat Step 3 until your work measures the desired length from your shoulders to the waist.

Front Panels (make 2):

  1. Chain a multiple of 4 stitches plus 1 additional stitch. For example, chain 33 stitches.

Finishing:

  1. Sew the side seams of the back and front panels together, leaving armholes as desired.
  2. If desired, add buttons to the front panels for closure.
  3. Weave in any loose ends using a yarn needle.
  4. Block your crochet vest by dampening it with water and shaping it to the desired dimensions. Allow it to air dry.
