Materials:

Worsted weight yarn in your desired color
Appropriate crochet hook size for the yarn
Yarn needle
Scissors
Instructions:

Start by making a foundation chain that is long enough to wrap comfortably around your head. You can measure it by holding the yarn against your forehead and extending it to the back of your head. Make sure to leave a bit of stretch in the chain so that the headband fits snugly.

Once you have your foundation chain, add a few extra chains to ensure the desired width of your headband. The exact number of additional chains will depend on your gauge and the desired width. Generally, adding 4-6 chains should be sufficient.

In the second chain from the hook, make a single crochet (sc). Continue making a sc in each chain across the row.

Chain 1 and turn your work. Make a sc in each stitch across the row.

Repeat step 4 until your headband reaches the desired width. You can measure it by wrapping it around your head and checking the fit.

Fasten off the yarn, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Fold the headband in half lengthwise, with the wrong side facing out. Take the two ends of the headband and cross them over each other, forming an “X” shape in the front.

Using the long tail of yarn and a yarn needle, sew the two ends of the headband together securely. Make sure to sew through both layers of the headband to create a sturdy seam.

Weave in any loose ends and trim excess yarn.
