Materials:
- Worsted weight yarn in two contrasting colors (Main Color – MC, Contrast Color – CC)
- Crochet hook (size H/5mm or size needed to obtain gauge)
- Yarn needle for weaving in ends
Gauge: Approximately 18 stitches and 16 rows = 4 inches in double crochet (DC) stitch
Finished Size: Approximately 24 inches in circumference and 9 inches in height (when laid flat)
Pattern:
Note: This pattern uses US crochet terminology.
Round 1: With MC, chain 70, join with a slip stitch to the first chain to form a ring. Be careful not to twist the chain.
Round 2: Ch 2 (counts as 1 DC), work 1 DC in each chain around. Join with a slip stitch to the first DC.
Round 3: Ch 2, work 1 DC in the next 3 stitches with MC, work 1 DC in the next 3 stitches with CC. Repeat from * to * around. Join with a slip stitch to the first DC.
Round 4: Ch 2, work 1 DC in the next stitch with MC, work 1 DC in the next stitch with CC, work 1 DC in the next stitch with MC, work 1 DC in the next stitch with CC, work 1 DC in the next 2 stitches with MC. Repeat from * to * around. Join with a slip stitch to the first DC.
Rounds 5-10: Continue working the pattern, following the Fair Isle colorwork chart of your choice or repeating Rounds 3 and 4 alternatively to create the Fair Isle design. Make sure to carry the unused yarn along the back of the work as you switch colors.
Rounds 11-12: Switch back to MC and work 1 DC in each stitch around. Join with a slip stitch to the first DC.
