Hemp yarn (you can find it in various thicknesses and colors)
Appropriate crochet hook size for the yarn you choose
Stitch marker (optional)
Yarn needle for weaving in ends
Pattern:
Note: This pattern is written using US crochet terminology.
Step 1: Start with a magic ring. If you’re unfamiliar with this technique, you can also chain 4 and join to form a ring.
Step 2: Round 1: Make 10 single crochet (sc) stitches into the ring. Join with a slip stitch to the first sc. (10 stitches)
Step 3: Round 2: Chain 1, make 2 sc in each stitch around. Join with a slip stitch to the first sc. (20 stitches)
Step 4: Round 3: Chain 1, make 2 sc in the next stitch, 1 sc in the next stitch Repeat from * to * around. Join with a slip stitch to the first sc. (30 stitches)
Step 5: Round 4: Chain 1, make 2 sc in the next stitch, 1 sc in the next 2 stitches Repeat from * to * around. Join with a slip stitch to the first sc. (40 stitches)
Step 6: Round 5: Chain 1, make 2 sc in the next stitch, 1 sc in the next 3 stitches Repeat from * to * around. Join with a slip stitch to the first sc. (50 stitches)
Step 7: Rounds 6-13: Chain 1, make 1 sc in each stitch around. Join with a slip stitch to the first sc. (50 stitches)
Step 8: Round 14: Chain 1, make 1 single crochet decrease (sc2tog) in the first 2 stitches, 1 sc in the next 3 stitches, sc2tog in the next 2 stitches Repeat from * to * around. Join with a slip stitch to the first sc. (40 stitches)
Step 9: Round 15: Chain 1, make 1 sc2tog in the first 2 stitches, 1 sc in the next 2 stitches, sc2tog in the next 2 stitches Repeat from * to * around. Join with a slip stitch to the first sc. (30 stitches)
Step 10: Round 16: Chain 1, make 1 sc2tog in the first 2 stitches, 1 sc in the next stitch, sc2tog in the next 2 stitches Repeat from * to * around. Join with a slip stitch to the first sc. (20 stitches)
Step 11: Round 17: Chain 1, make 1 sc2tog in each stitch around. Join with a slip stitch to the first sc. (10 stitches)
Step 12: Fasten off, leaving a long tail. Thread the tail through the yarn needle and weave it through the front loops of the remaining stitches. Pull tight to close the top of the beanie.
Step 13: Weave in any remaining ends using the yarn needle.
