Scarf and Mittens

Crocheting a Scarf:

Choose your yarn and crochet hook size based on the desired thickness of your scarf. Thicker yarn and a larger hook will create a bulkier scarf, while thinner yarn and a smaller hook will result in a lighter scarf.
Make a slipknot and create a foundation chain of the desired length for your scarf. The length can vary based on personal preference.

Crocheting Mittens:

Choose your yarn and crochet hook size based on the desired thickness of your mittens. Thicker yarn and a larger hook will create bulkier mittens, while thinner yarn and a smaller hook will result in lighter mittens.
Start with the cuff: Make a slipknot and create a foundation chain that is long enough to fit comfortably around your wrist. Join the chain into a ring by slip stitching into the first chain.
Work in rounds using single crochet, half double crochet, or any other stitch pattern you prefer. Continue crocheting until the cuff reaches the desired length, usually a few inches.
To shape the hand part of the mitten, begin working in rows. Increase stitches at the beginning and end of each row to create the thumb gusset. Continue until you reach the desired length for the hand.
Once the hand part is complete, create a thumb hole by skipping a certain number of stitches (based on your thumb size) and joining the yarn to start working on the thumb.
Crochet the thumb section in rounds or rows, depending on your preferred method. Increase or decrease stitches as needed to shape the thumb. Continue until the thumb reaches the desired length.
Fasten off the yarn, leaving a long tail. Weave in any loose ends.
