Materials you’ll need:
Worsted weight yarn (color of your choice)
Crochet hook suitable for the yarn weight
Scissors
Yarn needle
Instructions:
Begin by making a slipknot and chaining the desired number of stitches to create a foundation chain. The number of stitches will depend on the size of the hat you want to make. Typically, a range of 70-80 stitches is suitable for an adult-sized hat.
Once you have your foundation chain, join the last chain to the first chain with a slip stitch to form a ring. Be careful not to twist the chain.
For the first round, chain one (does not count as a stitch) and single crochet in each chain around. Join with a slip stitch to the first single crochet.
From the second round onwards, you’ll start working in rounds without joining at the end of each round. This creates a seamless spiral. Chain one at the beginning of each round.
In the subsequent rounds, continue single crocheting in each stitch around. Repeat this process until the hat reaches the desired height. You can make it slouchy or more fitted, depending on your preference.
To finish off the hat, cut the yarn, leaving a long tail. Thread the yarn tail through a yarn needle and weave it through the stitches of the last round. Cinch the opening closed by pulling the yarn tail tight. Secure the yarn tail and weave in any loose ends using the yarn needle.
Embellish your hat if desired. You can add a pom-pom, a decorative button, or a crochet flower to personalize your Spindrift Hat.
