Pattern:

  1. Start by making a slip knot and placing it on your crochet hook.
  2. Chain the desired number of stitches to create the width of your pillow. This will depend on the size of your pillow form or the dimensions you want for your pillow. Make sure to chain an even number of stitches.
  3. Row 1: Double crochet in the third chain from the hook and in each chain across. Turn your work. (This is referred to as the foundation row.)
  4. Row 2: Chain 2 (counts as a double crochet), skip the first stitch, double crochet in the next stitch, skip the next stitch Repeat from * to * across. Turn your work.
  5. Repeat Row 2 for the desired height of your pillow cover. Make sure to end with an even-numbered row.
  6. Fasten off and weave in any loose ends with a yarn needle.
  7. Fold your crocheted piece in half, with the right sides facing each other.
  8. Use your yarn needle and yarn to sew the side edges of the pillow cover together, leaving one edge open for inserting the pillow form or stuffing. Make sure to sew through both loops of each stitch to create a sturdy seam.
  9. Turn the pillow cover right side out.
  10. Insert the pillow form or stuff the pillow cover with stuffing to your desired fullness.
  11. Once the pillow is filled, use your yarn needle and yarn to sew the remaining edge closed.
  12. Fasten off and weave in any remaining loose ends.
