Materials Needed:
Worsted weight yarn in your preferred color(s)
Crochet hook suitable for your chosen yarn (usually around 5.0mm – 6.5mm)
Yarn needle
Scissors
Instructions:
Foundation Chain:
Chain a multiple of 2 stitches, depending on how wide you want your scarf to be. For a standard adult scarf, you can chain about 200 stitches, but feel free to adjust based on your preference.
Row 1:
Starting in the second chain from the hook, work 1 single crochet (sc) in each chain across. (For example, if you chained 200, you should have 199 sc after this row.)
Row 2:
Chain 1 (does not count as a stitch), turn your work.
Work 1 single crochet (sc) in the first stitch.
Work 1 double crochet (dc) in the next stitch.
Skip the next stitch, then work 1 sc and 1 dc in the next stitch. Repeat from * to * across until you have one stitch remaining.
Work 1 sc in the last stitch.
Row 3:
Chain 1 (does not count as a stitch), turn your work.
Work 1 single crochet (sc) in the first stitch.
Work 1 double crochet (dc) in the next stitch.
Skip the next dc from the previous row, then work 1 sc and 1 dc in the next sc. Repeat from * to * across until you have one stitch remaining.
Work 1 sc in the last stitch.
Repeat Row 3:
Continue repeating Row 3 until your scarf reaches the desired length. Make sure to leave enough yarn to weave in the ends and create a fringe (optional).
Finishing:
Fasten off your yarn after finishing the last row.
Weave in any loose ends using a yarn needle.
