Vinyl Record Coasters

Materials you’ll need:

• Worsted weight yarn in black (or any color you prefer for the record)
• Worsted weight yarn in white (or any color you prefer for the label)
• Crochet hook suitable for your yarn weight
• Yarn needle
• Scissors
• Pattern:
  1. Start with the black yarn.
  2. Round 1: Make a magic ring or chain 4 and join with a slip stitch to form a ring. Chain 2 (counts as the first double crochet), work 11 double crochets into the ring. Join with a slip stitch to the top of the beginning chain 2. You should have 12 stitches.
  3. Round 2: Chain 2 (counts as the first double crochet), work 1 double crochet in the same stitch. Work 2 double crochets in each stitch around. Join with a slip stitch to the top of the beginning chain 2. You should have 24 stitches.
  4. Round 3: Chain 2 (counts as the first double crochet), work 1 double crochet in the next stitch. Work 2 double crochets in the next stitch, 1 double crochet in the next stitch. Repeat from * to * around. Join with a slip stitch to the top of the beginning chain 2. You should have 36 stitches.
  5. Round 4: Chain 2 (counts as the first double crochet), work 1 double crochet in each stitch around. Join with a slip stitch to the top of the beginning chain 2. You should still have 36 stitches.
  6. Fasten off and weave in the loose ends.

  To create the label:

  1. Attach the white yarn to any stitch on the last round of the coaster.
  2. Chain 10 (or adjust the number of chains to your preference).
  3. Slip stitch into the second chain from the hook and into each remaining chain.
  4. Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.
  5. Use the yarn needle to sew the label onto the coaster, making sure it’s centered.
