Materials you’ll need:
- Worsted weight yarn in black (or any color you prefer for the record)
- Worsted weight yarn in white (or any color you prefer for the label)
- Crochet hook suitable for your yarn weight
- Yarn needle
- Scissors
- Pattern:
- Start with the black yarn.
- Round 1: Make a magic ring or chain 4 and join with a slip stitch to form a ring. Chain 2 (counts as the first double crochet), work 11 double crochets into the ring. Join with a slip stitch to the top of the beginning chain 2. You should have 12 stitches.
- Round 2: Chain 2 (counts as the first double crochet), work 1 double crochet in the same stitch. Work 2 double crochets in each stitch around. Join with a slip stitch to the top of the beginning chain 2. You should have 24 stitches.
- Round 3: Chain 2 (counts as the first double crochet), work 1 double crochet in the next stitch. Work 2 double crochets in the next stitch, 1 double crochet in the next stitch. Repeat from * to * around. Join with a slip stitch to the top of the beginning chain 2. You should have 36 stitches.
- Round 4: Chain 2 (counts as the first double crochet), work 1 double crochet in each stitch around. Join with a slip stitch to the top of the beginning chain 2. You should still have 36 stitches.
- Fasten off and weave in the loose ends.
To create the label:
- Attach the white yarn to any stitch on the last round of the coaster.
- Chain 10 (or adjust the number of chains to your preference).
- Slip stitch into the second chain from the hook and into each remaining chain.
- Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.
- Use the yarn needle to sew the label onto the coaster, making sure it’s centered.
